With the start of the new year come new year’s resolutions. Most of us make resolutions at the start of the year, but how many of us keep them? I am notorious for failing to keep my resolutions.
Last year I made only one resolution for 2007. I resolved to set up on-line bill paying. 2007 has come and gone, and I’m still writing checks every month. That’s right. An entire year passed and I never got around to setting up on-line bill paying. Even my 78-year-old mother pays her bills on line. But not me.
So you’d think I would have learned my lesson. No more new year’s resolutions for me, right? Wrong! My resolution for 2008 is not to join any KAL. It will be difficult, but I am determined.
Don’t get me wrong. I love knit-alongs. I’ve joined many, and finished most. I did the Anniversary Pi Shawl that is pictured in the sidebar of the home page as part of a group knit-along on the EZ-as-Pi Yahoo Group. But last year’s Dale of Norway KAL project, Gjende, pictured above, is still unfinished, as is my Balmoral from a Laceknitters KAL three years ago.
In addition to swearing off KAL this year, I also resolve to finish my Dale sweater and start working on Balmoral again, even if the filler stitch is utterly boring.
Mystery knit-alongs seem to be very popular. I have done several of these and enjoyed them thoroughly. But I a bad experience with a mystery KAL that involved a poorly-designed project. No more mystery KAL for me.
Until the next one comes along. 🙂
